We’ve been hearing about the upcoming PUNISHER sequel WAR ZONE for the last few months, and today we’ve finally been given a bone to chew on: the film’s synopsis has been revealed!
You ready for it? Check this out: Waging his one-man war on the world of organized crime, ruthless vigilante-hero Frank Castle sets his sights on overeager mob boss Billy Russoti. After Russoti is left horribly disfigured by Castle, he sets out for vengeance under his new alias: Jigsaw. With the “Punisher Task Force” hot on his trail and the FBI unable to take Jigsaw in, Frank must stand up to the formidable army that Jigsaw has recruited before more of his evil deeds go unpunished.
A few things this beast has going for it: one, Castle’s already The Punisher, so half the movie isn’t about his transformation into vigilante superhero- he already is one; and two, this Jigsaw character sounds 100% more badass than John Travolta ever could be! If I were to judge the two films on storyline alone, I’d have to lean towards WAR ZONE, only because it just sounds like a cooler movie! Although whether it comes off that way on the big screen has yet to be seen…
The flick stars Ray Stevenson, Dominic West, Doug Hutchinson, Colin Salmon, Wayne Knight, Dash Mihok, and Julie Benz, and is looking to hit theaters sometime next year. Let the punishment begin!
