Warner Bros. developing Adventure Time film with The LEGO Movie producers

Adventure Time

Deadline has learned Warner Bros. is developing a feature length film based on the Cartoon Network animated series Adventure Time. Cartoon Network Studios is involved with the project, as well as creator Pendleton Ward (who will be writing and producing), with THE LEGO MOVIE's Chris McKay and Roy Lee also producing the planned film.

Adventure Time officially premiered on Cartoon Network in 2010, and it follows a young boy named Finn and his canine best friend Jake, who has magical powers. The series is set in the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo, which the duo are trying to protect from unsavory characters like the Ice King.

I've seen exactly one episode of Adventure Time, and while it wasn't really my thing, I can see why many people (both young and old) absolutely adore the show. Fans of the series are probably pretty stoked Pendleton Ward is helping with writing the script for the film, and hopefully that means it will be more like say THE SPONGEBOB MOVIE: SPONGE OUT OF WATER, and less like the dreadful ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS movies.
