Warner get Primeval

The other night I landed on the Sci-Fi Channel to check out some LOST reruns. And what I ended up seeing was a commercial for PRIMEVAL. My first impression… corny. But now I may just give it a chance.

Why? Well because Warner Bros. just scooped the screen rights to this ‘corny’ tv show in a high-six-figure deal. Maybe there’s something to it then? Akiva Goldsman and Kerry Foster are producing through Goldsman’s Weed Road banner with Emily Cummins also producing. Goldsman is currently looking for a writer.

The television show is about ferocious prehistoric and futuristic creatures that appear through wormhole time portals, and a covert team headed by an evolutionary scientist tries to close the doors and quietly thwart the creatures. Damn… that actually sounds pretty cool. The show stars Andrew Lee Potts, Hannah Spearritt (below), Lucy Brown, and Ben Miller. Apparently this film version will add a touch of action to the story. Producer Kerry Foster adds:

“There is a solid mythology to the series, but the movie has the dinosaur element of ‘Jurassic Park’ and the time travel element of ‘Lost,’ and it just feels like the kind of big movie that Warner Bros. does well.”

Works for me! We’ll keep an eye on this PRIMEVAL movie and will update you all once we hear more!
