Variety is reporting this morning that Ken Watanabe has joined the cast of the vampire flick CIRQUE DU FREAK, alongside John C. Reilly and the always-smoking-hot Salma Hayek!
From Universal Pictures, FREAK is based on a long running series of children’s books by Darren Shan about a 14-year old recruited as an assistant to a vampire (Reilly) who accidentally spawns a war between the good vampires and the Vampanese (the bad vampires). Watanabe will be playing a character named Mr. Tall, a barker for the Cirque… whatever the hell that means.
The flick sounds interesting enough, though I haven’t heard of the books before today, but I’m guessing it’s going to be aimed towards kids, and for any vampire flick, that’s somewhat of a let down. Plus, Hayek will be playing the bearded lady, which is gonna do all sorts of bad things to my special time in the shower.
Directed by Paul Weitz, FREAK is set to begin filming next month, so stick around for more news and updates from CIRQUE DE FREAK as comes our way!
