Weinstein seeks evil

With the separation from Miramax, The Weinstein Co. have wasted no time with gobbling up news items left and right. The latest comes courtesy of Variety, which reports that Harvey and Bob Weinstein have acquired the rights to EVILSEEK, which reportedly will star Thomas Jane (we told you about this deal earlier).

Written (and possibly going to be directed) by Wayne Kramer, the story focuses on Jane, a cop so demoralized by the works of a serial killer that he kills himself. Satan uses the cop’s body as a vessel to come to Earth but has to deal with the cop’s ex-wife, 15-year-old daughter, lesbian partner, and just a bit of the cop’s former determination to catch the killer. Sounds weird to you? You’re not the only one. But hey, a story like that makes for an interesting film, right? Plus, it gives us an excuse to wait for Jane to return for a sequel to THE PUNISHER.
