Werewolf Santa horror comedy to reach theatres in the US and the UK

The horror comedy Werewolf Santa – featuring Emily Booth, Nicholas Vince, and the voice of Joe Bob Briggs – is getting a theatrical release

Writer/director Airell Anthony Hayles’ horror comedy Werewolf Santa will be making its premiere at FrightFest in London on Friday, August 25th, with a second screening following the next day. With several days left to go until we reach the premiere date, Screen Daily reports that Miracle Media International is already planning to give Werewolf Santa a theatrical release in both the US and the UK sometime during November this year!

101 Films International holds the international sales rights to the film outside the UK and North America.

This project was once going by the title Frost Bite. The new title might have tipped you off to the fact that Werewolf Santa is going to show us what happens when Santa Claus, who turns into a werewolf on Christmas Eve, wreaks havoc in a small seaside town. The synopsis adds that the film’s hero is Lucy, who has a show called ‘Monster Hunters’ on YouTube, but it’s not doing too great with just a few viewers following her. That is until, on Christmas Eve, her camera witnesses Santa get bit by a werewolf in the local park, before turning into a werewolf himself. Lucy and her family then set off on a Christmas Eve adventure to somehow save Christmas, armed with just a rusty ice skate and a vague understanding of how werewolves operate (knowledge gained from the horror comics she pours through).

It’s said that Werewolf Santa is “as much a quirky family drama as it is a horror fantasy” and “the alternative Christmas movie you’ve been waiting for.”

The cast includes horror regular Emily Booth (Evil Aliens), with legendary drive-in movie critic Joe Bob Briggs – who currently has a series on the Shudder streaming service called The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs – providing a special voice cameo. Lucy is played by Katherine Rodden (Blood Clots).

Werewolf Santa was produced by The Haunted Cinema, in partnership with Miracle Media.

Airell Anthony Hayles has previously directed They’re Outside, Spider Inside Her, The Krampus Calendar, and Midnight Peepshow.
