We’ve heard rumors about a remake of Wes Craven’s THE PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS for years, but most of us probably didn’t expect it to take this form. Craven will produce a television adaptation of his 1991 urban horror flick for Syfy. Keeping busy, Craven is also producing a TV version of Daryl Gregory’s horror novel We Are All Completely Fine.

Universal Cable Productions, which Craven has a deal with, will produce both series.

The People Under the Stairs series is described as “contemporary Downton Abbey meets Amityville Horror.” (Just try to wrap your head around that.) Michael Reisz (Shadowhunters) is penning the adaptation and will executive produce with Craven, Shep Gordon from Alive Productions, and Tracey Murray and Bottfeld from Industry Entertainment.

Here’s the TV take on PEOPLE:

When a young woman goes missing at the grand Robeson Family Manor, her search unveils the centuries-old horrors that lie deep within the estate.

Meanwhile WE ARE ALL COMPLETELY FINE tells the story of…

enigmatic psychologist, Dr. Jan Sayer, who gathers survivors of five horror movie scenarios in a support group – and unwittingly unlocks the evils of her patients’ pasts. As their traumas are brought back to the surface, they uncover which monsters they face are within… and which are lurking in plain sight.

No word on how much of a fast track these projects are on, but we’ll keep you posted on their progress.
