Looke like Jerry Weintraub still plans to go west. With THE CELL helmer Tarsem set to take the reins, Weintraub’s remake of WESTWORLD is now a go. Originally slated to star Arnold Schwarzenegger, the flick was put on indefinite hold when The Terminator became The Governator.
Here’s what Variety had to share about a possible return to the big screen for Arnie:
Schwarzenegger’s reps insist he’s not involved with the project at this point. But it’s certainly not a given that he won’t be in “Westworld” should he decide not to seek re-election in next year’s election or should he lose the race. His current term ends in January 2007.
Perhaps most surprisingly is that Schwarzenegger wasn’t set to play the Yul Brenner role of a robot cowboy gone haywire at the Westworld Theme Park. He was just going to be a plain old (but no doubt heroic when necessary) park guest.
Gee, Governor of the largest state in the nation or big time Hollywood action star. My life’s choices are never that cool.
