Westworld season 3 gets a March premiere date

The first trailer for the third season of the HBO series Westworld was released online almost eight months ago, long enough ago that if someone had told me yesterday that the season had already come and gone, that it has already aired in its entirety, I would have believed them. Which shows how out of touch I am when it comes to this show – I really need to catch up on those first two seasons.

But the fact is that Westworld season 3 hasn't reached HBO airwaves yet, and the cable channel has just announced the season's premiere date. Westworld season 3 will begin airing on March 15th.

Based on Michael Crichton's 1973 film WESTWORLD, the TV show has the following synopsis:

Westworld isn't your typical amusement park. Intended for rich vacationers, the futuristic park — which is looked after by robotic "hosts" — allows its visitors to live out their fantasies through artificial consciousness. No matter how illicit the fantasy may be, there are no consequences for the park's guests, allowing for any wish to be indulged.

Season 2 ended with the character Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) escaping from the theme park, so season 3 goes beyond the usual setting and will be giving us a look at a futuristic Los Angeles.

The cast of season 3 includes new additions Aaron Paul, Vincent Cassel, Lena Waithe, Scott "Kid Cudi" Mescudi, Marshawn Lynch, John Gallagher, Jr., Michael Ealy, and Tommy Flanagan, along with Wood and fellow returning stars Thandie Newton, Ed Harris, Tessa Thompson, Rodrigo Santoro, and Jeffrey Wright.

Showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy executive produce Westworld with J.J. Abrams, Athena Wickham, Richard J. Lewis, Ben Stephenson, and Denise Thé.
