Another day goes by, another big name to add to the cast of the upcoming Sylvester Stallone flick THE EXPENDABLES. The Hollywood Reporter announced today that Forest Whitaker is in final negotiations to star in the flick, joining a cast that already includes Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Randy Couture, and Jason Statham.
Whitaker has been making a name for himself as a solf-spoken humanitarian in many of his films, but it’s easy to see the guy has a badass side, and I’m thinking THE EXPENDABLES is the flick that will finally exploit it!
Whitaker will be playing the CIA liaison for the group of mercenaries sent to South America to overthrow the country’s dictator. Ok, so maybe Whitaker won’t be as badass as some of the others, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be badass… we’re talkin’ THE EXPENDABLES here!
Another casting update is of Stallone’s DEMOLITION MAN co-star Sandra Bullock. Last week a rumor was going around that Stallone was trying to pursue Bullock to star in the film. That is not the case, according to The Hollywood Reporter. And to that, I say good riddance. She just wouldn’t belong in a movie as badass as this.
Filming for THE EXPENDABLES is scheduled to begin this February.
