Variety announced this morning that Sylvain White, the acclaimed director behind STOMP THE YARD, has signed on to direct the DC / Vertigo Comics’ adaptation of THE LOSERS for mega-producer Joel Silver and his genre arm Dark Castle Entertainment.
This is huge news for White, as he was headed down the path of evil by being type-cast as the director of crappy dance movies. Now he might actually make a name for himself. White’s a huge comics fan and is currently trying to bring Frank Miller’s RONIN and CASTELVANIA to the big screen. If he does right with THE LOSERS, he shouldn’t have any problem getting either of those (or both) greenlit.
THE LOSERS is about a band of black ops commandos who are set up to be killed by their own government. They barely survive and set out to get even.
Revenge the ol’ fashion way, eh? Sweet. In other news, White is also serving as producer to Chris White’s horror flick DAVID, Whoa, two Whites? Chris is Sylvain’s cousin… and that solves that mystery! DAVID is a dark supernatural thriller inspired by true events. The story centers around a small family from New York who moves to an inherited farm house set in a winter setting after dealing with a personal tragedy. Their problems are only beginning when they arrive in this isolated location which inhabits a evil entity known as David that begins to manipulate their sanity resulting into murder and mayhem.
Hell yeah! You’ll be able to catch the Arrow aka John Fallon in DAVID, as he has a small role as Chris the paramedic. That alone should get you excited for this flick, not to mention the killer synopsis. Sounds like both the White’s are busy guys!
Stick around for more on both THE LOSERS and DAVID as they surface!
