Whoa – Whacking Wives!

The Hollywood Reporter shared today that director Jon Amiel (COPYCAT) will take on ANGEL MAKERS for London-based production company The Producers.

It’s based on a true story and sounds highly f*cked up – [T]he film tells the tale of women in a Yorkshire farming community during World War I who turn murderous when their husbands return from the trenches to discover their places on the farms and in their beds have been taken by German POWs.

Despite the fact that it seems the husbands are the ones who should be turning murderous in this scenario, I think this sounds like it has real FRAILTY-like potential. It could easily be realistic, messy and thus wholly disturbing.

We’ll have to wait and see what tone they decide to take with this one, but the concept just screams DARK to me, so I’ll keep you updated as long as the news stays good.
