Did you realize that Emma Watson hasn’t done any other live-action feature apart from the Harry Potter films? It just sort of hit me and it’s weird. But, that may no longer be the case…
According to Variety, the young British thesp is being considered for a lead role in the indie coming-of-age drama THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER, based on the novel by author Stephen Chbosky who will also be directing from his own script. And right there with Watson is former (or never was?) Spider-Man candidate Logan Lerman (PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS: THE LIGHTNING THIEF).
The story, published back in 1999, “is narrated by a shy and unpopular teenager who describes his life by writing a series of letters to an anonymous person and explores the awkward times of adolescence, including drug use and sexuality.”
Watson will next be seen in HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HOLLOWS: PART II, the final Potter film which is set for release in July of 2011. Lerman, meanwhile, will be gearing up this September for the production start of Paul W.S. Anderson’s THREE MUSKETEERS.
