Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig get serious in the A Deadly Adoption trailer

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

While the existence of A DEADLY ADOPTION seems to change month to month based on Will Ferrell‘s mood, we now have a trailer to accompany the recent poster revealed for the Lifetime original movie. While it comes from Andrew Steele, writer on the IFC spoof THE SPOILS OF BABYLON, the trailer for A DEADLY ADOPTION looks dead serious.

Ferrell and Wiig are self-proclaimed fans of the over-the-top Lifetime brand of melodrama, but now that we have seen footage from the movie, I cannot tell whether there is going to be any humor in this or if they play it entirely straight.

“A successful couple who house and care for a pregnant woman (played by 90210 alum Jessica Lowndes) in the hopes of adopting her unborn child — then things quickly go awry.”

Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig have both proven themselves adept at more serious performances in recent years. While they over the edge with their humor most of the time, they are fully capable of knocking it out of the park with understated performances, too. Either way, this looks like it could be a lot of fun.

A DEADLY ADOPTION airs June 20th on Lifetime.
