The full trailer for A Deadly Adoption is hilariously serious

Last week, we got our first tease of the Will Ferrell/Kristen Wiig Lifetime original movie A DEADLY ADOPTION. It was hard to tell if it was going to be a satire like their IFC mini-series THE SPOILS OF BABYLON or something different. While it is still hard to tell in the new trailer if the movie will be tongue-in-cheek or not, it definitely looks different.

A DEADLY ADOPTION looks like a remake of THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE but with a psychotic pregnant woman instead of a psychotic nanny as the antagonist. From the trailer we can tell that Will Ferrell‘s character somehow wronged young Jessica Lowndes and now she is out to destroy his family. Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell have both done dramatic work in their careers, but I still have a feeling that in context the dialogue and rationale behind the character actions in this movie are going to be ridiculous.

The premiere of A DEADLY ADOPTION is set to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Lifetime network. While it is definitely not the channel I normally tune to, I definitely admire the fact they went for a project this ridiculous to celebrate their big anniversary.

A DEADLY ADOPTION premieres June 20, 2015.
