Sony is looking to start production on the long-delayed GHOSTBUSTERS 3 in Fall of 2011, and casting will begin soon in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. An inside source tells What’s Playing that they are looking for “young male and female actors aged 18-30“, likely to play the new recruits.
The more exciting news comes from the rumors that the anonymous tipster dropped: The names of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE stars Will Forte and Bill Hader have been mentioned as possibilities for the film. Anna Faris (SCARY MOVIE) is also rumored to be involved, although the source was unknowing of her involvement.
Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis will reprise their roles while serving as executive producers and character writers. Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Rick Moranis are all expected to return as well. Ivan Reitman will once again be behind the camera. Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, who have penned several episodes of THE OFFICE together, are writing the script. A Christmas 2012 release is expected.
