PRIZE: DEANA MACPHERSON
What enrages me the most is our Judicial System and the contradictions it
imposes on victims of crime. In Quebec (where I live) criminals receive more
financial support in ‘rehabilitation’ for their crimes than the innocent victim.
In Quebec there are 2 departments of the Justice System who reach out to
victims: The Crime Victims Assistance Centre who offer front-line services to
all victims of crime and their immediate family and to witnesses to a crime and;
The Crime Victims Compensation Act who claim to provide financial support to
anyone who is injured as a result of a crime EXCEPT in cases of harassment.
What? No support for victims of
harassment? Isn’t domestic abuse of any kind harassment? We are all told that in
order for the crime rate to decrease, prevention is the best approach. If
prevention is the best approach then why is it that when a female who has been a
victim finally reaches out for help and the psychotherapy needed for recovery is
not funded? Women who have been victimized need more social support than their
aggressors and if they do not receive the support needed, they will be
victimized again and indirectly teach their children that being a victim is
acceptable. If our justice system will not provide adequate funding to prevent
these types of crimes committed against women, mothers and their children who
are witness, then what is the money for?
SECOND
PRIZE: GILBERT RUBIO
So here is the thing. what doesn’t enrage me. from stupid drivers, to stupid
remakes, not much does not enrage me. But I do have one thing that really sets
me off. I hate reading about an awesome movie on some great horror related
website such as The Arrow In The Head, and not being able to see the movie for
like two three years. Okay for instance, I read about this great independent
horror flick entitled All The Boys Love Mandy Lane way back in 2006.
After the release date changed for
the umpteenth time, I nearly hung myself. Hopefully I may be able to see it this
year. I have read of so many great sounding, shite great looking completed
movies, which I am still waiting to see. The Devil’s Chair and Trick R Treat
round out my top three movies which are completed and ready to be viewed by
anxious horror fiends like myself. Powers that be, stop shelving horror movies
which should be seen by mass quantities.
THIRD PRIZE: JORDAN HILLHOUSE
What enrages me the most is, as odd as it may sound, me. It’s not me per se, but
one of my traits that makes me angry. I have an inability to say no to things
that I want to say no to. Whether it is bummy friends that ask for money and
never pay back, or my inability to quit a shitty job just because I am asked to
stay, my lack of backbone makes me angry.
It brings out a wrath that few have ever seen, locked deep inside, like a bad
secret, like Zelda from Pet Cemetery. Hopefully, this dirty little secret of
mine will help me to win this contest. Thank you for you time,
FOURTH PRIZE: JEFF HERRINGTON
What really grinds my gears is when you go into the drive-thru at any fast food
joint and the person ahead of you is taking forever ordering. All you want to do
is get a sandwich or 2 and the fucker ahead seems to be ordering the whole damn
farm. It is after a few minutes that you roll down your window(if it wasn’t down
already).
Douche bag: I’ll have 4 double cheeseburgers with light pickle, no onion, light
ketchup, extra mustard, and light on the lettuce, I would also like a number 3,
a number 5, and a number 7, and put light mayonnaise on the number 7. Can I also
get 2 apple pies, a regular hamburger, a 6 piece nugget, and 2 large fries –
Employee: Is that all? Douche bag: Umm nooo can I also get 2 regular
cheeseburgers with a side of pickles and 4 large pops, one coke, one orange, and
2 diets.
It is at this point where the employee reads the order back to the TOOL, and
half the shit is fucked up, in which they then ramble back and forth until the
order is right. That is what enrages me.
FIFTH PRIZE: MICHAEL ZUPAN
For some it’s probably people who drive while putting on make-up, others it may
be the slew of reality television. I think what enrages me the most in this
specific example, is US Weekly, and I can’t decide what enrages me more about
it! Stars! They walk their dogs! They go grocery shopping! I shit you not, I’ve
even seen the magazine tell us ‘they drink bottled water!’. And furthermore, I
ACTUALLY READ THIS TRASH!
Mind you, I’m a ‘manly man’ that
would rather sit down and drink a six pack of beer while watching some action,
horror, or football. Next to my toilet? Two or three Maxim magazines. But
there’s times you’ve read it all before and courtesy of the wife, the US Weekly
is right there. How can I not read such witty retorts from ‘The Fashion Police’
such as ‘Jennifer Garner should get a new ALIAS to be out in those clothes!’
People actually get paid for this garbage, and I’ll actually read it. I know,
I’m ashamed, and in fact, I don’t even know why I’m writing in for this contest.
I’m clearly not deserving of winning the prize. Go read an US Weekly and see if
you even feel deserving of life afterwards.
