Boy oh boy, where's a can of Perri-air when you really need one, right?

Recently legendary comedian Mel Brooks and his son, Max Brooks, took to Twitter with a very important message for those in midst of combating the spread of COVID-19. Mel Brooks, who's 93, is considered by medical experts to be at high risk when it comes to the more severe effects of coronavirus. Max, on the other hand, is 47, which means that even if he were to contract the virus, he would most likely survive. Be that as it may, Max is practicing social distancing so that his father — as well as other elderly members of society — are at a safe distance from possible carriers of the virus.

In the video, which you can watch for yourself below, Mel and Max stress the importance of self-isolation:

"If I get the coronavirus, I'll probably be OK," Max says in the funny yet informative video. "But if I give it to him, he could give it to Carl Reiner, who could give it to Dick Van Dyke and before I know it, I've wiped out a whole generation of comedic legends."

Max then added: "When it comes to coronavirus, I have to think about who I can infect. And so should you."

The familial duo then shared a list of tips for staying safe during the COVID-19 pandemic:

– Practice Social Distancing

– Avoid Crowds

– Wash Your Hands

– Keep 6 ft. Away From People

And if you have the option to stay home, just stay home.

Currently, my wife and I are under quarantine after recently returning from the United States. Thankfully, a part of me feels that, as practiced homebodies, we've been preparing for this social distancing thing for most of our lives. We've got food, toilet paper, a nerd cave full of movies, and both Doom: Eternal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons are set to launch this Friday. In other words, I think we're going to be okay.

Here's hoping that people comply with the act of social distancing — in addition to other essential practices — so that we as a society can nip this thing in the bud. Best of luck to Mel, Max, and the rest of you out there who're doing your best to keep cool during these trying times. Stay safe. Stay healthy.
