WORLD WAR Z has had a very good run, we can all agree upon that. With $526 million grossed worldwide, the film is a certified hit, and almost guaranteed to spawn a sequel. But Paramount wants it to do even better…
A few weeks ago, the studio re-released the film in IMAX for a special week-long run. WWZ bagged some more cash, winding up with $198 million in the U.S., but you get the sense that Paramount is really itching for it to cross the $200 million mark, which may explain why they are putting WORLD WAR Z back in theaters on August 30th as a double feature with STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS.
Via a press release: Paramount Pictures, a division of Viacom, Inc., is giving moviegoers a chance to see two of its summer blockbuster films, STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS and WORLD WAR Z, with a special double feature at select AMC Theatres, Carmike Cinemas, Marcus Theatres, Regal Cinemas and other participating theaters nationwide in RealD 3D and 2D. Beginning Friday, August 30th through Thursday September 5 th, the double feature allows fans to relive the excitement of two of the summer’s biggest hit films for one ticket price.
So, clearly, Paramount urges you to check out WORLD WAR Z one last time in the theater; STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS as well. (Though that one has made $227 million domestically.) Let’s not forget that WWZ comes out on Blu-ray in just a few weeks – Paramount wants you to buy that too.
