Drew Struzan Star Wars

Drew Struzan is man about whom you should know, because even if you’ve somehow managed to go all this time without hearing his name you will still have fallen in love with his art. His posters are nearly unparalleled, easily as memorable as the films themselves, and possessed of a style all their own that strikes a beautiful balance between art and life.

Erik P. Sharkey is a filmmaker who has taken it upon himself and his wallet to shoot a documentary called DREW: THE MAN BEHIND THE POSTER, and in doing so managed to record “amazing all new interviews with George Lucas, Harrison Ford, Michael J. fox, and Steven Spielberg to name a few.” The problem for Sharkey is that while the film is in its final stages of the sound mixing process and the whole thing has been shot and cut, he is also completely out of money. And that’s where you (potentially) come in – all he needs now is $6,500 in the next 52 days to finish the film and release it, and you can even snag a thank you gift for your generosity.

“We have done this out of our own pocket with our own time,” says Sharkey. “But the money has totally run out. We need your help to finish this film that will honor one of our finest Illustrators. Please help us with the completion funds we need and support truly independent filmmakers.”

If you’re at all able to contribute, you can head over here to do so and thereby earn the goodwill and thanks of film fans everywhere.
