Zach Galifianakis & Paul Rudd to star in new comedy for The Artist director

In a new interview with Variety, THE ARTIST director Michel Hazanavicius says his next project will be a comedy called WILL starring Zach Galifianakis, and Paul Rudd is in talks to star in the film as well. WILL will be produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, and is based on a screenplay by comedian Demetri Martin. Hazanavicius also says he hopes to start production on WILL by the end of the year or early 2015.

WILL has been described as a high-concept comedy, and is "set in a world devoid of free-will, with every moment of your life is preordained by "angelic scribes." Things change when Will, turns 34 and finds out that his life has opened up and that he's actually free to do whatever he wants." Zach Galifianakis will play Will's angel (who apparently has a "rebellious spirit"), and Paul Rudd is in negotiations to play the titular character.

Can I just say this sounds like a fantastic project? I've never been a huge Demetri Martin fan, but I loved Michel Hazanavicius' THE ARTIST, and I'm excited Paul Rudd and Zach Galifianakis might be working together. Hazanavicius was actually interested in making the film a couple of years ago, and I'm glad he will be behind the camera for WILL.

Paul Rudd can be seen next in the comedy THEY CAME TOGETHER on June 27th, 2014, and Zach Galifianakis' BIRDMAN will be in theaters October 17th, 2014.
