Zack Snyder and J.J. Abrams continue Batman V Superman/Star Wars mash-up

I'm not exactly sure what the following exchange means, if anything, but it's happening. During this year's San Diego Comic Con, Zack Snyder tweeted a pic of the Man of Steel himself, Henry Cavill, brandishing a lightsaber. What did it mean? Did Snyder have some involvement in the upcoming films? Was Henry Cavill involved in some way? Neither, as Snyder was quick to point out that he was just having a bit of fun with the actor. Very well. Hilt looks a little long, though.

Fast forward to August 2nd, and Snyder is at it again, this time with Batman in tow. He also specifically tweeted it to Abrams production company, Bad Robot. At this point, I think it's safe to say that Snyder has an obsession of taking his characters to a galaxy far, far away.

I'm not sure what the expectation was in regards to a response but as far as Bad Robot is concerned, them is fightin' words! So they responded in kind with a mash-up of their own that bests both of Snyder's efforts combined.

Why is this a thing? Where is it going? Valid questions, but I suppose when you devote years of your life to superheroes, you have to find some way to keep your sanity. Or maybe Zack Snyder is just a giant nerd. I'm okay with either one. However, the ball's in your court now, Snyder. The internet watches with . . . a mild curiosity?

The largely Star Wars-less BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE will hit theaters March 25, 2016.
