After reports saying he was on, then saying he was off (like THIS ONE), Variety is now confirming that Rob Zombie will be back to write and direct HALLOWEEN 2, the sequel to his version of HALLOWEEN!
Not only that, but Dimension is saying that H2 will be filmed, completed, and ready for theaters… by October 2009! Yeah–no shit! Talk about another fast-tracked production at break-neck speed to hit the release month of October!
I say this is a sequel to his HALLOWEEN, because Zombie’s H2 will not resemble the original HALLOWEEN 2, but will go an entirely different direction. The only similarity is that Zombie’s H2 will also take place right where the first one ended. Technically, H2 picks up right as the first remake ended, following the aftermath of Michael Myers’ murderous rampage through the eyes of the sister he hunted.
So what do you think of all this? Did Zombie’s HALLOWEEN tickle your fancy enough to make you excited for a sequel? While I personally didn’t think the film was all that great for a remake, mostly because I love the original, I’m actually quite curious to see where Zombie goes from here, since this H2 will not be a remake, rather taking the character and the story in a completely new direction. Maybe this is just what the series needs!
