This weekend we got confirmation from The Weinstein Co. that Rob Zombie will direct the next HALLOWEEN movie. I think the most interesting thing about this was how it came to light, with rumors surfacing last week, then a denial from Rob Zombie on Saturday, followed by an Official Press Release that it was true. Zombie’s explanation for the denial can be read, on where else, his MySpace page.
The flick will not be HALLOWEEN 9 and it will not be a prequel to the first one, but is going the re-imagining route. I guess I fall into the middle on this one. I think touching the original is sorta silly since it’s such a kick ass movie, and it still clearly holds up today. That said, I can’t help my curiousity about what Zombie will do with it.
Overall I have to give this announcement a meh, but Zombie’s presence will keep me mostly open-minded on the project. Now I know you good people have some strong opinions on this, so don’t keep ’em bottled up. Spit bullets below. We want your firepower!
