If you were concerned that Christian Bale's involvement in the new TERMINATOR movie(s) would be minimal, fear not -- the Batsuit-wearing Brit will smash those metal motherf*ckers into junk at least three times, assuming the franchise retains momentum.
Bale plays the adult John Connor in the scorched future of McG's new TERMINATOR, but there was speculation as to whether the offspring of Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn would be a central figure or essentially a "supporting role," with Bale adding genre cred and name value. According to producer Derek Anderson, "He read the script and he loved it, so he's signed on for all three."
The production, now underway, is going to lengths in order to prevent leakage -- apparently the actors involved are only getting script pages for the scenes they're actually in. No further details were given on the plot (which, we can assume, involves the vestiges of mankind fighting cyborgs), or the potential appearance of the guy who made mechanical assassin so popular, Arnold Schwarzenegger. The flick is due in theaters next May.
Extra Tidbit:
The TERMINATOR television series THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES returns this fall, which makes me kind of happy.

I loved the first two movies (particularly the original Terminator), but I don't have the ingrown sentimentality for Cameron's vision.
What I am concerned about is Bale. The man is such a terrific actor he can bring credibility to any role he takes. But whether or not I mourn the bastardization of the Terminator franchise, I can say we don't need THREE MORE MOVIES chronicling the future. And Bale's credibility may be stretched thin in starring in all three. He'll be the first John Connor to star in more than one movie of the franchise. He can do genre movies, but this is too much. |

Unfortunately, even a great script under a bad director can ruin a movie. And given McG's previous films, I have strong doubts about this whole project. Although T3 was the weakest in the series, I liked it enough to hope that a 4th movie would be made, taking place directly after 3 and maybe bringing back Stalh and Danes. I love Bale, and I hope this isn't the first major mis-step of his career. |

THIS IS A LITTLE TOO M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN TO ME
I understand the need for secrecy as much as the next man, but let's face it, since the Internet has grown to its present state, there are leaks no matter how hard the studios try to preserve the confidentiality of their projects. If fanboys want to know the details of the latest Terminator flick, they will find out, one way or another. Let them decide how much they want to know. Nobody makes them troll the Web to find out how many dumps Christian Bale takes on the set or whatever weird random information it is they're trying to get. Most importantly, I would question how only having partial scripts would affect the quality of the actors' performance in this movie if none of them have any idea how the story arc develops over the course of the film. Whoever made that decision needs to loosen up and treat the source material with the respect it deserves by making the best movie possible because there aren't too many great sci-fi franchises out there. Sadly, the Terminator is the last of a dying breed. |

I thought the 3rd Terminator was a decent movie. The big rig scene was pretty cool. It also had some funny parts. But of all the films the 1st one is the best.
As for Christian Bale, he is the man. I would watch anything with him in it.
At the end of his career he will have played Batman/Bruce Wayne, John Connor, and hopefully Solid Snake.
Now that is crazy. |

See also Cameron's equally unimaginative theft of the climax of "Alien" for his inferior "Aliens."
- Jesus. Maybe just maybe it was a nod to the first film. |

KDRAINES...
not only is Judgment Day the best of the terminator franchise, but it is also a great piece of film.
I don't know why you think Judgment Day is the worst...i can't comprehend that
but as to the topic at hand....I was never really hardcore with the terminator movies....but maybe these films in the works will make it worth while |

Let's be honest there.
I know Bale will be good, but I just hope the movie works as a whole. We'll see I guess. |
