FX's upcoming third season of "American Horror Story", subtitled "Coven", has just landed two more heavyweight powerhouse actresses to its already incredible cast list. Co-creator Ryan Murphy sent out the following tweet yesterday:

Age-defying beauty Bassett is an Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner for WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT? while LuPone has twice been nominated for an Emmy Award and is a multiple Tony winner.

Bassett and LuPone join Frances Conroy, Taissa Farmiga, Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Gabourey Sidibe for the third season, which is scheduled to premiere this October.

Bloody hell that IS a cast!! But I agree with below... what male cast members can they bring in? I'm hopeful for more Dylan McDermott. The male cast last year didn't have the strongest storylines IMO. Though a few females were also given short shrift of promising storylines that came to not much (Lily Rabe for one though she was excellent while she was there). Peters storyline was a bit lame due to it being a bit out of place (yes I get the theme was crazy but it still didn't feel like it

Peters storyline was a bit lame due to it being a bit out of place (yes I get the theme was crazy but it still didn't feel like it properly fit) and would've been much stronger had it been kept for a completely Alien themed season. Both Cromwell and Fiennes were great but their storylines and screen time fizzled out and they were not utilised to the extent they should have been. McDermott was a great surprise and perfect in his role when he finally came on scene so in the end only Quinto got a decent run at a story - and he played it well. I love the series and can't wait to see what this one will bring (other than an awesome cast).

This cast is UNSTOPPABLE. Seriously where else on television can you get JESSICA LANGE, Kathy Bates, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Frances Conroy, and Patti-fucking-LuPone. All on a horror series no less!
How anyone could be excited for any other show more than "AHS" this fall is beyond me; none have a cast of this caliber. Even if the material were to seriously take a nose dive, the talent involved will raise it to orgasmic heights.
The only thing I'm left wanting are some great males; I'm all

The only thing I'm left wanting are some great males; I'm all for this being a female-driven season, but adding, say, Zach Quinto or Joseph Fiennes would just be an added bonus.
