Final Destination 5 poster banned in the UK because it scares kids?!

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Man kids over in the UK are weak! After ATTACK THE BLOCK you’d think UK kids are tough, right? I mean they look into the face of a vicious extraterrestrial race and f*ck sh*t up! But that’s not the case…

You see The Hollywood Reporter is… well… reporting that a recent ad campaign for the DVD release of Steven McQuale’s FINAL DESTINATION 5 has been cut short over in the UK because the flick’s poster scared a bunch of kids. Seriously!

The Advertising Standards Authority decided to ban the image you see to the right because it upset some children. According to the ASA the poster “was likely to cause fear and undue distress to children.” Apparently back when the flick was hitting theaters the ASA also got complaints, 13 of them to be exact, because of both the imagery and the tagline: “It’s not if, It’s when Final Destination 5.”

I suppose I can sort of see where they’re coming from with this… but come on… It’s just a poster. Warner Bros. did argue that the skull was a “fantasy image” and the poster “accurately reflected the content of the film in an appropriate manner without causing excessive fear or distress.” But alas their argument fell on deaf ears.

In this fifth installment, Death is just as omnipresent as ever, and is unleashed after one man’s premonition saves a group of coworkers from a terrifying suspension bridge collapse. But this group of unsuspecting souls was never supposed to survive, and, in a terrifying race against time, the ill-fated group frantically tries to discover a way to escape Death’s sinister agenda.

Regardless of the ASA getting their panties in a bunch FINAL DESTINATION 5 will be hitting DVD and Blu-Ray in the US on December 27th with a cast that includes Nicholas D’Agosto, Emma Bell, Miles Fisher, Arlen Escarpeta, David Koechner, Ellen Wroe, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (below), Courtney B. Vance and ‘Death’ himself Tony Todd.
