Magnet Releasing reveals release dates for Sharlto Copley-starring Europa Report

Apr. 5, 2013by: Kevin Woods

It has been months since we've heard anything on the Sharlto Copley-starring sci-fi thriller EUROPA REPORT. Our last update was back in November of last year when we shared the teaser for the Sebastián Cordero-helmed flick. Since then we've kind of been lost in space on information surrounding the film, but today we have word that Magnet Releasing will be handling distribution on the flick and we have the details of when it will be touching down for you below.

Magnet will be debuting EUROPA REPORT on VOD on June 27 and will later give the film a release in selected theaters on August 2nd.

With an international cast that includes Michael Nyqvist, Copley, Embeth Davidtz, Daniel Wu, Christian Camargo, Karolina Wydra and Anamaria Marinca, EUROPA REPORT comes to us from a screenplay by Philip Gelatt and follows a contemporary mission to Jupiter’s moon Europa to investigate the possible existence of alien life within our solar system via a unique blend of documentary, alternative history and science fiction.

When unmanned probes suggest that a hidden ocean could exist underneath Europa’s icy surface and may contain single-celled life, Europa Ventures, a privately funded space exploration company, sends six of the best astronauts from around the world to confirm the data and explore the revolutionary discoveries that may lie in the Europan ocean. After a near-catastrophic technical failure that leads to loss of communication with Earth and the tragic death of a crewmember, the surviving astronauts must overcome the psychological and physical toll of deep space travel, and survive a discovery on Europa more profound than they had ever imagined.

Check out the trailer for EUROPA REPORT below and mark your calendars for June 27.
