David Goyer hints at possible titles for Zack Snyder’s Superman/Batman film

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Arguably the biggest reveal in Hall H during Comic Con was Zack Snyder introducing his next film (and next chapter in the DCU movie universe) as not only a sequel to this year's MAN OF STEEL, but a new Batman film at the same time, taking a decidedly different approach to building a comics-to-film universe than the reigning king, Marvel. It makes perfect sense, really, as the very last thing we need is another origin story of Batman. Best to just jump right in and get down to business.

However, as cool as that reveal was, which was simply the Superman crest with the Bat-symbol underneath, we didn't get an official title. Screenwriter David S. Goyer, who is currently writing the epic throwdown, gave a pretty straightforward answer at the Superman 75th Anniversary panel at Comic-Con, though, saying:

"So the next film we’re making, we’re already in pre-production, comes out in summer of 2015 and it’s–we’re actually not sure whether the title is Superman vs. Batman or Batman vs. Superman but yes, it’s–that rematch, that combination, the two guys onscreen and that’s happening.”

I think many are wondering just how much of this film will be a battle between the two iconic heroes and how much will be a team-up, as we all know that this film will lead towards the eventual JUSTICE LEAGUE film. It doesn't really matter to me which name comes first or even if the "vs." is in the title or not, but for some it's paramount. I'm sure we'll have a definitive answer soon enough. Do you have a preference?

SUPERMAN VS. BATMAN or whichever it shakes out to be is set for release in 2015.

Oh, and here's that reveal for those who weren't able to see it…
