The JoBlo Sunday Night Movie Chat: Independence Day

It’s that time of year when millions of Americans fire up the grill, watch beautiful fireworks displays, and watch movies that celebrate our independence. Well, The JoBlo Sunday Night Movie Chat would like to help with that last one. This weekend, we celebrate our independence not from the British. This weekend, we celebrate our independence from motherf*cking aliens and chat about Independence Day! Truly, this is a holiday for the whole world.

For the past year and a half, yours truly has been hosting The JoBlo Sunday Night Movie Chat every Sunday night at 7pm EST. We’ve chatted about all kinds of awesome flicks. Movies like The Matrix, Star Trek, Alien and Aliens have all been topics for the chat. It’s the best place on the internet to get together in a fun and friendly atmosphere to talk about the movies we love.

All you need to do is head to OUR CHATROOM at 7pm EST and make sure to log in with your MFC username and password. You are encouraged to bring up comments or questions about the movie at hand, or feel free to just hang out and and see what everyone else is chatting about. The regulars are extremely friendly people that will definitely make you feel welcome. And believe me, they are very, very cool schmoes.

And please remember this. Be respectful of others and their opinions during the chat. It’s great to have multiple opinions of movies in the chat. I love that. What I don’t love is for people to be insulted or badmouthed about their opinions. Directly insulting someone and/or trolling people will get you kicked from the chat.

I think this is the perfect movie for this weekend. Not only is the title and the setting of the movie appropriate, but it’s just pure fun. Is this the smartest movie we’ve ever discussed in the chat? Not by a long shot. But it does have aliens blowing the crap out of cities, a rag tag group of heroes that want to kick the alien menace off of our planet and some of the best friggin’ special effects to come from the 1990’s. High art? Nope. Lots of dumb fun? You better believe it.
