An enormous Middle-Earth Blu-ray box-set will soon be upon us

The Lord of the Rings The Hobbit blu-ray boxset

If you've been holding out for the complete Middle-Earth Blu-ray collection for the past fifteen years, prepare to feel vindicated. Details on an enormous new box-set which contains the extended editions of both THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy as well as THE HOBBIT trilogy have been released by Amazon (via io9). The Middle-Earth Limited Collector’s Edition also includes the countless hours of amazing bonus features found on the previous Blu-ray/DVD sets all bundled up in a very handsome package.

It doesn't appear as though there are any new bonus features included this time around but each film will be housed in "six stunning faux leather books and a collectible Hobbit-style wood shelf" which was crafted from solid wood with a design selected by Peter Jackson himself. Also included is a 100-page replica of The Red Book of Westmarch, which was the book which both Frodo and Bilbo wrote their tales in, but this recreation will instead be filled with original film sketches and new artwork. Speaking of artwork, several reproductions of watercolour paintings by Alan Lee and John Howe will also be included.

Amazon has since removed some of the product details, such as what this massive set will cost, but at the moment The Middle-Earth Limited Collector’s Edition is set for a October 4, 2016 release.

It's a Trap!!!

Go read the article on "The Digital Bits" about this. There is nothing new to the set at all. They are all the same things that were released before with nothing new added. Just nice packaging. Plus the $799.99 tag is a mishap on Amazon. It will be $79.99. Link is below.

Only $800?

Gee, I guess I'll buy 2 just to have a spare.

Maybe I'll double dip since the set looks really nice. It's just that the complete sets of LOTR, and The Hobbit are really nice as well and I hate when studios do this to us fans who go out and by these editions every time a new version/set(s) come out.

It does look pretty nice. Though maybe the studio's do this BECAUSE of the fans who buy all the editions. I mean, I think this was an obvious one coming, and it's not like they just waited a few months after the standard releases to drop this, like many do...

Beside, on a pure 'Studios' point of view, don't forget that now, all the money will go to Warner, instead of New Line for the original release of the LotR trilogy... It's just like when Disney re-released the Star Wars films right after they bought LucasFilms...
Economically speaking, it's a logical move !
