Bond meets Wolvie

If you've wondered why Daniel Craig hasn't been packing his schedule with non-007 projects, it's apparently because he's planning to spend several months solving crimes with Hugh Jackman.

The downside is that tickets might cost you up to a steep $130 -- because the duo is teaming up on Broadway for the police play "A Steady Rain."

Although Jackman is known more for song-and-dance on stage (he won a Tony for the Peter Allen musical "The Boy from Oz"), "Rain" is a tuneless drama about two Chicago cops whose friendship is "rocked by a domestic dispute that is not what it seems."

The show opens at the Schoenfeld Theater in September and runs through the end of 2009, so don't expect to hear too many film-related announcements for either of the heavy hitters for a while.

Extra Tidbit: Bond franchise producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli clearly have a vested interest in their top agent -- they're also producing this play.

Good stuff

Both these guys just gained bigtime cred in my eyes- so many actors would never have the guts to do this. It shows real dedication to the craft. True actors.

I remember after the success of Casino Royale, Daniel Craig was swimming in Blockbuster offers. Unfortunately most of those films ended up tanking at the box office (Golden Compass, Invasion, Defiance) so it looks like he's not getting as many offers in between Bond flicks this time. That being said, if the play's a success I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to take it to the big screen as well.

Am I the only one who thinks that a Bond and Wolverine musical would be the most badass play ever made?

Just sayin'
