Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving is gonna happen, according to the man himself

Despite being a box office bomb, GRINDHOUSE was a labor of love from Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez, and the guest directors who helped make fake trailers for the film. Thankfully, we have gotten MACHETE and HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN out of it with MACHETE KILLS coming next year. Since GRINDHOUSE was released we have also heard rumblings that Eli Roth’s trailer for THANKSGIVING would become a film as well. With all of the projects Roth has been working on, THANKSGIVING kept getting pushed further and further back.

Now that Roth’s Las Vegas horror attraction, Goretorium, is nearing completion, it looks like THANKSGIVING is back on the table. Roth told Behind the Thrills the following:

“Dude, it’s gonna happen. I’m working with the CLOWN writers on it. We have a call scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Jeff Rundell, my co-writer and I have a very extensive treatment. We finally cracked the story and how to make it really really scary, and the reason to do it, and I’m really excited about it. So the CLOWN script was one of the best scripts I’ve ever read, and we’re like ‘before Jon [Watts] shoots CLOWN, he has a window.’ Chris Ford, who’s movie ROBOT & FRANK just opened… Chris and John are going to write the screenplay with me and my partner Jeff, so we’ll have a screenplay soon.”

So, the project is still in the very early stages, but I trust Roth when he says they are working on it. I loved the first CABIN FEVER and tolerated HOSTEL. I think Roth is very talented filmmaker who we should see more films from.

Are you as excited as I am to see THANKSGIVING?
