100%

In this new series we take a look at the Oscar nominations of years past, examining the flicks that were nominated, as well as the pic we feel got snubbed among all the other candidates. Love 'em or hate 'em, the Oscars usually highlight the best films from each year (although there are plenty that get overlooked) and it's always fun to look back and see what was popular for any given year and to contemplate their legacy in retrospect. This time out we take a look at the 1986 Oscars, which had some strong dramatic fare, including a Harrison Ford thriller, a Robert Redford/Meryl Streep romantic drama, a Spielberg period drama based on a play, a musical adaptation, and a mob hitman/woman flick.

Enjoy:

1986 Nominees:

I'd expect Joblo to pick Back to The Future. Runaway Train? The Falcon and The Snowman?

Back To The Future is a great original adventure. In fact, it's probably one of the top films of the 1980s. However, I'd expect Joblo to pick it as the Best Picture snub. How about surprising us with some picks people would never have thought of? Snubs like, Runaway Train, or The Falcon and The Snowman?
If you feel that Back To The Future got snub, which nominated film should it have replaced? Having seen all these film expect for Kiss of The Spider Woman, I don't see Back to The Future being

Prizzi's Honor is a great John Huston crime comedy, and it's neck and neck with Back To The Future.

THE COLOR PURPLE-7/10; BREAKFAST CLUB (snub)-9/10

However, I also would've liked if BTTF had been nominated.

The Breakfast Club is overrated. I get it, it was the first of it's kind for John Hughes high school films, but it's a 6 or 7 at best. Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller, even Planes Trains & Automobiles are far superior!
The Color Purple is a 10/10, how was Breakfast Club better or even comparable?
