Exclusive: Feige says Infinity War to be final chapter for some MCU regulars

We already know AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR will be a superhero bonanza of biblical proportions, and needless to say certain costs come with such epicness. In this case, INFINITY WAR will mark the end for certain characters in the MCU. Whether this means they will bite the bullet, or just retreat to a vacation home in the Bahamas, we don’t know, but Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige did say to our own Eric Walkuski this this will indeed be the end for certain characters.

This fact was revealed as blunt as humanly possible by Feige when Walkuski asked him if INFINITY WAR will be the final chapter for certain beloved characters:

Yes.

Like I said…

The two biggest characters fans believe are on the chopping block are Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’ Captain America, the two main figureheads of the MCU (and the comics). Walkuski asked him if Marvel has any plans to make any more movies around the characters after AVENGERS 4, and Feige delivered with his classic brand of vague:

We have another two years of hard work to even finish these movies, and they [the actors] have a lot of hard work to do, so thats all we're thinking about, is completing those and delivering on the promise of those. Where it goes beyond that, we'll see.

Feige has probably been getting questions like this left and right, so he’s learned to dodge swings better than Muhammad Ali. But what he does seems comfortable in revealing is that these next two AVENGERS movies will conclude the chapters of some of the heroes we’ve come to love over the years. How many? Who knows, but someone is gonna die, and you better have the hankies ready. In fact, use a Kleenex. Don't be carrying around a wad of boogies.

The first part of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR arrives May 4, 2018, followed by the fourth AVENGERS one year later. Stay tuned for the full Feige interview on MONDAY!

Cash rules everything. Given RDJ's huge box office draw I highly doubt they'll kill Stark. Yeah his contract may be up but I'm sure Marvel will want to at least leave open the possibility that he could pop up in small roles in the future. Cap is a maybe, as Evans is definitely done. But after 15 movies and very few substantial deaths, I doubt they're gonna kill many in one movie. I think more story lines will resolve than characters will die.

my guesses:

Iron Man - will die. RDJ is too expensive to keep on a franchise that sells itself, and Tony Stark has pretty much covered every direction they can go with him. Also dramatically effective to kill off the guy who takes nothing seriously to convince audiences: now things are getting really high risk serious and no one is safe.

Thor - 50/50 I will reserve judgement untill Thor 3 is out.

Captain America - Will live but leave the team

Hulk - lives

Ant-Man - Will live and become a more

Ant-Man - Will live and become a more integral part of the Avengers, maybe a mentor to Spider-Man

Spider-Man - will absolutely make it and be the A-list superhero for the next MCU phases after Iron Man and Captain America are out

Vision - Since not too much has been done with the role so far (and Paul Bettany is comparably inexpensive), he will be a likely +1 for future solo films of other heroes

Hawkeye - Had to eat shit throughout all previous MCU films while always being second fiddle. Killing him off would end a character arc of lows on a low. No, I think he will stay and become a leader and shepard for the next gen of Avengers (maybe a little like Batman in Justice League - no powers and not the strongest fighter by a long shot, but a smart and carefull lone wolf who might step up to find his leadership skills)

Easy bet, just look at the actors who've said they were leaving the series. So likely this is goodbye to Tony Stark and Steve Rogers.

Obviously the Hulk will make it. Not sure about Ant-Man though.

Ant-man won't die as Rudd already has more Ant-man movies lined up

well if i was a betting man🤓 id say vision goes (obvious headstone),stark and steve rogers as well but you never know how the cards may fall. gonna be real dark when they meet thanos and not so much humor. im really disappointed quicksilver was not brought back or at least not yet 😁

I think it would be ironic if Hawkeye makes it out alive considering he's been the Avenger with the least amount of stuff to do in most of the films and considering his skill set and abilities compared to everyone else. But that's what also makes him one of the better characters as well; he doesn't rely on powers, just a very set of skills in shooting his arrows and fighting.

I hope it isn't Hawkeye given they made such a big deal of introducing his family and having Quicksilver sacrifice himself in AOU - it would feel a little cheap to me to kill him off
I think it'll be Cap with the shield passing to Barnes, Vision for the mindstone and I also think Thor may be at risk given he's had 3 standalone films now - I don't think they'll kill off RDJ as I think he'll continue to make cameos possibly in the Spider-Man movies
