First it was James Dean selling long term investments, now it’s Chris Farley selling satellite dishes? But while that first one was actually a pretty poignant look into the too-soon-dead actor’s potential life, this TOMMY BOY commercial from DirecTV is just plain tasteless and both they and David Spade deserve the loads of scorn being hefted at them for this.
The same goes for whoever owns Farley’s likeness rights now, presumably his family. I can’t imagine they thought, “Oh I’m sure if Chris were alive today he’d want to be shilling overpriced cable that uses outdated technology.” What’s next, freaking Christian Bale selling a DVR while bashing Heath Ledger’s face in during the DARK KNIGHT’s interrogation scene?
