Glenn Close to take on a leadership role in Guardians of the Galaxy

Here’s a bit of rather surprising casting.

Marvel Studios has chosen Glenn Close to play the “head cop” in James Gunn‘s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. Close will take “a leadership role in Nova Corp, the intergalactic space patrol.” It’s also stated that this will be the closest thing to THE AVENGERS Nick Fury.

When I brought you the news yesterday that John C. Reilly would possibly be cast in the flick as well, I told you that he would have a colleague. Well at the time Hugh Laurie and Alan Rickman were being looked at for the part, but it seems that Close landed it. Deadline, who broke the story confirm Reilly’s being brought on board.

I must say, I’m digging the hell out of this diverse cast.

Close joins Reilly, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Lee Pace, and Michael Rooker in the film due to be released on August 1, 2014.
