Glimpse some superpowers in the new teaser poster for Fantastic Four

03.24.2015

There were a few indelible moments from the first trailer for Josh Trank's FANTASTIC FOUR but none more than the shot of the four heroes standing in front of some sort of power surge headed towards the sky. The source of the surge and the nature of how it impacts the characters is unknown, but it is a beautiful and impressive shot. Now, the marketing team is using that image as the focal point for the film's new teaser poster.

The other noticeable thing about this poster is the lack of acting credits anywhere on the one sheet. Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell may not be as instantly recognizable as other actors in Marvel films, but excluding their names seems like a deliberate decision. As does the blatant tag that FANTASTIC FOUR comes from the same studio as X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Are these due to lack of confidence in the finished movie or is Fox just playing it safe?

Whatever the reason, this is a nice teaser poster that subtly adds visual hints to the powers for Sue Storm and her brother Johnny which did not appear in the same shot in the teaser trailer. Clearly, The Thing is transformed which leaves Reed Richards as the lone character without any visible powers on display. Hopefully the next trailer will rectify that.

FANTASTIC FOUR opens on August 7, 2015.

My main concern was that they didn't have the courage to make Sue Storm black after they made Johnny Storm black. It's insulting.

The other day i gave Josh Trank's Chronicle a chance. So I watched it and I thought it was average. Michael B Jordan's character was paper thin. Only one character in the film had any depth whatsoever, and even he was a one trick pony, just petulant. A bullied kid who becomes the bully. Hard to root for the protagonist when he is the antagonist. I get the feeling Trank had in the back of his head some social commentary in mind. But it feels like it stayed in the back of his head. I look at it like this. Some people are going to see the movie and declare they loved it whether it is good or not, because they feel the movie is getting trashed by haters. And some folks are turned off by the reboot for a lot of reasons. But ultimately that means failure for the film. For the film to make a profit and be successful, it can't do that with 50% of its core demographic already unexcited to see it or buy its merchandizing or spread good vibes about it. When you have films like the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy or The Dark Knight drawing in a billion dollars globally, the standards for success for this genre of film has been set. The budget for Trank's Fantastic Four is millions of dollars. It would be hard to even break even with a 50% core demographic swearing off the film.

To me they are still severely underselling this movie & that has me worried. Either the studio has no faith in it or it's keeping it under wraps to avoid any negative hype, not very smart in my book.

poor Reed Richards ...

he's got no powers... LOL
the trailer looks good, the poster looks good... however after TWO dismal failures in this franchise we (as fans) are left wondering "Can ANYONE get it right?" ...seems to me we're divided 50/50 on this issue, I was once a hater till I saw the trailer, but I have to say its really won me over... did I like the other two movies? no. do I read the FF comics? no.
will I enjoy this flick? only time will tell, but I CAN say I do plan on seeing it, I haven't shut the door

Just because you haters whining is pissing me off. The movie is coming out. You CAN'T stop that. Let the reviews and numbers do the talking. Till then just skip the articles because we get it. You're not watching the movie.

So people are not entitled to their own opinions? And people on the internet piss you off!? Wow, would hate to know you in real life!

Also, your whole post is somewhat confusing, because, as you say "green band. Just because you haters whining is pissing me off." So if you are giving this a green band because you're pissed off (at online people...) you actually wanted to give it a red band, because you too actually think it looks like a disaster. So why would you be angry at people who think

It's not that confusing John. And now you're trying to be a passive aggressive smart ass about it. You are entitled to your opinion. But give it a rest. We've heard it. I didn't say if I was going to see the movie one way or the other. But all the butt hurt crying over this makes me want to buy 2 tickets on opening night. And frankly whether or not I'm in the theater is none of your damn business. ;) I can see people complaining about a cheaper by the dozen sequel, but this? Please. I think we

Sooo..You are complaining about people complaining? Do you not see the irony in that?
I plan on seeing this movie, expectations minimal as I too think it looks...either way, I won't judge a movie unless I have seen it, so I will give it a fair chance. On the original note, you could always just ignore the people complaining and be respectable instead of complaining about people who, like you, have valid opinions.
Just sayin'

I don't know how much complaining I'm doing but are people just reading these articles to hate on a film? If a movie doesn't interest me I won't even click on the article. And the stuff they're griping about doesn't make any sense. Where were these people when Bucky wasn't in his outfit for Captain America The First Avenger?? I mean come on. Just saying.

It's a solid teaser poster - good even - chances are there's even a good movie somewhere behind this, but to be honest the handling of this has been so bad up until this point that it would take incredible reviews for a lot of comicbook movie fans to give this a chance.

I'm gonna give it a chance. Because, you know, I'm a rational human-being

I was taken aback too with the changes, but I see two things here : 1.Trank wants to try something new, I see nothing wrong with that. 2. The changes he made don't matter because the essence is still there. 3. This Dr. Doom as a "blogger" has never been confirmed so I really shouldn't believe what many people are saying because a lot are just bias as hell.

All of this hate for a movie not seen is really disheartening as an avid film goer and a man who was (figuratively speaking) raised by superheroes. Idk if the movie will be good, but it's apparent that this isn't a cash grab so I will give it a chance because I am a true fan of film who still remembers that superheros and their lore are over exaggerations of us and a mirror image of our struggles. As long as I feel connected to their struggle to find normalcy in a world that rejects them and in the process become family and find self-acceptance, I'm good. It's all about the essence. You can read as many FF comics that you like, but if a minor change and a serious tone has you going for the pitchforks, you never got the point.

This doesn't look like another cash grab. When the reviews are in and if they say otherwise, I'll retract that statement, but for now I'll give it a chance.

This is an Internet movie chat room - there is no use for rationalization!!! We band wagon, jump to conclusions, and try to be as snarky as possible (see)!!!

I'm with you on all of this, though idk ab the "essence" of the film. But I don't get the immense hate for this film when it's not equal for other films. If your going to hate on Doom being a blogger, how in the world can you not possibly hate on Lex Luthor being the same kind of tech guy? Maybe I'm wrong here, but I think Lex is a

Maybe I'm wrong here, but I think Lex is a MUUUUCH more known and beloved character but people are letting it ride, along with another half dozen red flags in the DCU. And the actor has really only played variations of Woody Allen. Woody Allen is fighting Superman and causing trouble for Bruce Wayne. Seriously.

Well said, Clif. The amount of hate this film gets on these boards in particular is astounding to me. It may end up being terrible but hell, it might not too. Here's to hoping.

Using that logic, then Man of Steel was "trying to ride on the back" of Christopher Nolan and his Bat-trilogy's success. Guardians of the Galaxy was "trying to ride on the back" of Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, and The Avengers' success. NO studio is innocent of that.

It's a marketing ploy, nothing more. Seriously, look back at some of those posters. Almost every one of them comes with the "From the studio that brought you..." tagline. It's a complete and total non-issue.

It's the same exact photo as the one they released before. How can anyone be excited for this crap??

hey man... i'm kind of surprised you're shitting all over this as much as you are - you have no interest in seeing how it turns out? at the very least, they seem to be taking a different route on the superhero thing - you can only beat it to death so much

Kinda piggybacking on KevWhit's comment here, but honestly Soloist it surprises me how much hate you have for this movie too. Particularly because you're typically pretty damn positive about most stuff movie related. What about this version of FF has you so riled up?
