Gone Baby Great?

Gone Baby Gone Being a fan of The Fleck (the Ben Affleck for the uninitiated) isn’t easy these days. For every BOILER ROOM, CHANGING LANES, MALLRATS, and HOLLYWOODLAND one cites (GOOD WILL HUNTING can no longer be used as an Affleck defense crutch), there’s the ever present stink of BOUNCE, PAYCHECK, the hideous FORCES OF NATURE and the absolutely virulent combo of SURVIVING CHRISTMAS and GIGLI the haters usually invoke.

However, it seems those of us who’ve stuck with him even through his horridly bling-ified J.Lo phase may finally be vindicated as The Hollywood Reporter has recently given his directorial debut, the crime thriller GONE BABY GONE, which he also co-wrote, a glowing review. In fact, they go so far as to say “it’s going to be remembered as one of the best crime movies of this decade“and conclude that “It’s a tribute to this thoughtful, deeply poignant, splendidly executed film that we replay the conclusion in our minds long after the lights come on.” Hells yeah.

The film, which is based on the Dennis Lehane novel of the same name, stars the younger Affleck Casey as a private detective who takes on a missing girl case that spirals into a life-altering emotional journey. Read the rest of the review HERE. The film opens October 19th.
