Into some Skulduggery

Studios are constantly seeking family-ready properties to transform into inordinately lucrative movie franchises, and Warner Bros. is hoping the supernatural kids book SKULDUGGERY PLEASANT does the trick.

The studio has grabbed rights to the new tome, about a wise-cracking skeletal detective and magician who mentors a 12-year-old girl. Together they fight to stop “the return of the evil Faceless Ones”. It’s not known if the plan is for a live-action or CGI flick, but given the continued profitability of computer-generated movies, that might be a safe guess.

The book is described as “darkly witty” by the people who probably paid preposterous amounts of money for the honor of adapting it, and was penned by Derek Landry, who also wrote the Irish zombie flick GIRL EATS BOY (starring pop queen Samantha Mumba).
