Hugh Jackman, who is probably one of the greatest entertainer on the planet was talking to MTV about WOLVERINE, recently:

"It feels different... We are dealing with a character who is probably one of the darker comic book characters ever created... The movie has a lot of fun elements, but there are layers of pain and darkness to this character... Tonally, I would put it more in the ‘Batman Begins’ sort of realm... That’s sort of where we’re headed.”

“There are two conditions for me doing any more: One is will anybody want to see it, and the second is: Will I still have the passion for it? I really wanted to do this spin-off movie, because I felt we hadn’t truly found who this character was... Right now [though] I feel like I could do another ten or eleven.”

See, this is the way to make a good X-MEN movie. You get a solid director like Gavin Hood (RENDITION) and you make that thing nice and dark. You don't mess around and get a commercial director like... well shit, it would be crass of me to name names, so I won't. But definitely not one that rhymes with 'Schmett Schmatner'. All of those guys blow.

Extra Tidbit: Still, X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE? Truly, truly heinous title, guys.

hmmm.....
I still think the title should be just "Wolverine," and I'm wondering if he name dropped Batman Begins just to excite the fans. Either way, I'll be there, so...

Great name for a comic book or even the DVD set: X-Men Origins. Then eventually, we'll get the DVD set: Avengers Origins with the individual titles. The studio and Marvel should just stick to "Wolverine".

WAY TO GO!
Yes, this movie will most definitely be PG-13. Yes, there may not be much blood. And yes, Marvel will always be Marvel. But Hugh Jackman merely naming Batman Begins gives me goosebumps because that's how the Wolverine flick should be, dark with a deep sense of heaviness on the title character. So even if it may not be as good as we want it to be in the end, the very idea of heading the 'Batman'...

This has potential
I think this movie has the potential to be good if it remains focused on Wolverine's history. However, with all the casting and characters I've read about being put into this movie I'm afraid it will turn into X-men: The next generation (or prior generation, i guess).

Maybe
Maybe, maybe. Just maybe, if the trailer is one of the greatest trailers I have seen, then I might watch it...because odds are this will be the watered down PG-13 Wolverine instead of the R Wolverine that we should be seeing in his solo movie.

That picture of Jackman makes me feel like I should really hit the gym. I'm excited for this film.

This movie is sounding better and better, but that title needs to change to just plain Wolverine.

The current title sounds like the title of a comic book mini series and NOT a film.

Ok...
Gavin Hood made Tsotsi (which oddly enough I didn't like given that the story was actually pretty interesting), and Rendition which I haven't seen yet, but nor have I heard anything that inspires me to watch it. that said, on the fence about what is to be the new wolverine movie. Jackman's great as Wolvie though.
