Jake Gyllenhaal may star in Boston Marathon Bombing survival story Stronger

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Earlier this month it was announced that David Gordon Green (JOE, PINEAPPLE EXPRESS) would be directing STRONGER, an account of Jeff Bauman's story regarding his experience with the Boston Marathon bombings. Bauman was waiting for his girlfriend at the finish line when two pressure cooker bombs exploded, taking both of his legs. He served as a key witness in the trial of bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, which was chronicled in a book titled "Stronger", co-written by Bret Witter. Now it looks though they've found the man that would be Bauman; Jake Gyllenhaal.

According to Variety, Gyllenhaal is the favorite to play Bauman, and given his performances in films like NIGHTCRAWLER and SOUTHPAW, Gyllenhaal is the king of drama right now. Jeff Bauman's story can be a bitter pill to swallow, but is inspiring in the long run (no pun intended). Gyllenhaal would undoubtedly do the man justice. Speaking of, the actor also has EVEREST which will open in theaters this September, as well as DEMOLITION which will hit the Toronto International Film Festival later this year. Sounds like Gyllenhaal can do no wrong!
