Jon Bernthal goes from The Walking Dead to Scorcese’s The Wolf of Wall Street

Maybe getting killed off of THE WALKING DEAD was not such a bad thing.

Jon Bernthal, who played the douchemaster general known as Shane on THE WALKING DEAD, has joined Martin Scorcese’s THE WOLF OF WALL STREET in a role described as a drug dealer and money launderer.

Bernthal joins the growing cast that already features Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, and Margot Robbie.

The story is based on Belfort’s memoir focusing on his days as, “a Long Island penny stock broker who served 20 months in prison for participating in a massive 1990s securities fraud that involved widespread corruption on Wall Street and in the corporate banking world, including mob infiltration. Belfort — who lived large, owned a yacht that sank off the coast of Sardinia and became an alcoholic and drug addict.”

Bernthal is already starring in Frank Darabont’s upcoming L.A. NOIR on TNT as well as recently wrapping the action film SNITCH starring Susan Sarandon and Dwayne Johnson.

While I disliked the Shane character, that is a credit to Bernthal’s performance.  He imbued Shane with a lot of layers that make you question whether he is a bad guy or a good guy gone crazy.  I look forward to seeing L.A. NOIR and THE WOLF OF WALL STREET grows more interesting with each new castmember.
