Kristen Stewart Kristen Stewart, now thankfully maturing out of the somewhat androgynous youngster she was before, has signed on to star in the upcoming vampirific romantic drama TWILIGHT. Based on Stephenie Meyer's hit novel of the same name and under director Catherine Hardwicke from a script by Melissa Rosenberg, Stewart will play a 17-year-old high school student who falls in love with a pale, enigmatic classmate with a penchant for darkness and black leather. Unlike other pale, enigmatic, darkness and black leather loving guys, however, he ain't no run-of-the-mill creepy goth. He's a vampire. And when someone looking to spill his blood permanently comes calling, Stewart's character's life is put in danger. The novel's spawned several sequels that the company behind the film, Summit Entertainment, hopes they can turn into deliciously green box office candy. Production is set to start in February. Stewart was most recently in the Sean Penn directorial effort INTO THE WILD and has romantic drama YELLOW HANDKERCHIEF and the comedy WHAT JUST HAPPENED? (in which she re-teams with Penn) coming up.

I rolled my eyes when I saw "vampirific romantic drama" - especially after 30 DAYS OF NIGHT revitalized what vampires are *really* all about - but then when I actually read the rest of the article, it made it sound more like a thriller than anything else. I'm game.
