Michael Fassbender & James McAvoy may have signed on for more X-Men movies

Jennifer Lawrence might be done playing Mystique after X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, but according to Heroic Hollywood, her FIRST CLASS and DAYS OF FUTURE PAST co-stars Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy have reached an agreement with Fox, and will return as Magneto and Professor Xavier in future X-Men movies. HH is also reporting that Fox wants Beast actor Nicholas Hoult back as well, however there's no word on how close the studio is to inking a deal with Hoult.

Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy extending their X-Men deals with Fox probably doesn't come as a huge shocker, however I'm still a little surprised Fassbender will appear in future installments, since out of the two he's the bigger name, and he might be leading his own movie franchise if ASSASSIN'S CREED is a big hit.

But I'm certainly not complaining. Even though I could do without Magneto once again making trouble for the superhero mutant team (there are plenty of other villains from the comics that haven't made it to the big screen yet), Fassbender has been absolutely fantastic in the role. What do you think Erik and Charles will be up to post-X-MEN: APOCALYPSE?

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is due in theaters on May 27, 2016.

Great news. If there are any actors from the First Class film I want to stay signed onto this new current storyline, it's McAvoy, and Fassbender. The guys are just as great at portraying the characters and having that chemistry between one another as Stewart, and McKellen were during their run playing the older versions Charles and Erik. And I'm assuming after Jackman hangs up the claws once and for all, McAvoy, Fassbender, Reynolds, and Tatum will be the new guys to really carry the future of

Would love to see this new and old team of X-Men face off against Mr. Sinister next after Apocalypse.

This is not a knock against these guys, they're awesome, what troubles me is the future of the series if they're indeed signed on for more movies. Since Mcavoy and Fassbender play the young versions of Xavier and Magneto this would mean that there's more story between Apocalypse and the future we saw at the end of DOFP. Just seems like overkill to me and there's no doubt in my mind that the idea of replacing Hugh Jackman is going around the business too. Wrap up the gaps with apocalypse and

This is exciting news. I agree with the others that said having Magneto as the villain is getting stale, but I'd still love to see him have a presence. And an X-Men movie without Xavier would seem insane so I'm ecstatic to see McAvoy signed on. I would also love to see more Beast, but honestly if they just kept him in Beast mode I suppose a recasting wouldn't be too weird.

Nice to see these characters coming back for more movies. Now that they have the core X-Men team in place for this movie, the sequel might start to take on a tone similar to the comics. But I do agree, the Magneto as the villain theme is growing a little stale. Frankly, since X2, the character has pretty much always been on the X-Men's side in these battles (excluding X3 which has been wiped from existence as far as I'm concerned), so it might be time to just make him part of the team for

They did it in the comics and it's worked out pretty well.

At least Fox is smart enough to realize these actors are the ones holding the franchise together. What worries me is what will they do when Singer leaves, if in fact Apocalypse is his last movie. Marvel seems to have a formula working, but when X-Men 3 needed writers and a director, they failed miserably to fill that void.

I'll give Fox the benefit of the doubt in that they're at least able to learn from their mistakes that were X-Men 3 and Wolverine Origins. It seems like everything since then has been trying to distance themselves from those movies. If Singer were to leave after Apocalypse, I'd trust Fox would be smart enough to keep Simon Kinberg around to lay out scripts for suitable follow ups and get a competent director that can continue the vision.

Thats a good point, as seeing he's probably be the spear header in the drafting room. Although at this point, coming towards 20 years of X-Men movies at Fox, I would like to see the rights swing back to Marvel. I fail to see that happening, so I'm hoping a suitable directer or Kinberg is there making quality stories.
