The Founder John Lee Hancock Michael Keaton Banner

THR has learned Michael Keaton (who just received an Oscar nomination for his performance in BIRDMAN) is in talks to play McDonald's tycoon Ray Kroc in THE FOUNDER. John Lee Hancock is attached to direct the film from a script by Robert D. Siegel (BIG FAN, THE WRESTLER), which has been described as "being akin to The Social Network and There Will Be Blood."

The Founder is a drama that tells the true story of how Ray Kroc, a salesman from Illinois, met Mac and Dick McDonald, who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California. Kroc was impressed by the brothers' speedy system of making the food and saw franchise potential. He maneuvered himself into a position to be able to pull the company from the brothers and create a billion-dollar empire.

Sources have told THR Michael Keaton met with John Lee Hancock earlier this week about the project, and has received an offer to play Ray Kroc.

Keaton has received a lot of love recently for his BIRDMAN role, and I'm sure he'll just as good in THE FOUNDER if he does decide to join the film. Who would you like to see play McDonald brothers?

keaton, good! what about the brothers?

I think Keaton would be great in the part. hope it works out. As for the brothers Mcdonald, I looked it up; so they're apparently about the same age as Croc. While he was born in 1902, the brothers were born in 1902 and 1909 respectively. How about Bryan Cranston and George Clooney? I don't know how big a part they would have, so maybe they wouldn't be able to get those type of names. What about someone like Paul Giamatti as one of the brothers, but would play the other one? Don't know. Or why

Don't know. Or why not real brothes, get two of the Baldwin brothers to do it (one of them needs to be Alec, anything else would be horrible). Maybe Jeff and Beau Bridges, but they might be on the old side by now. Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez. Matt and Kevin Dillon. Dennis and Randy Quiad, those would actually be quite good I think. Well, now I'm just rambling.

This is great news. That Social Network meets There Will Be Blood description sounds like what a McDonalds movie SHOULD be like, and I sincerely hope John Lee Hancock is a director who can deliver that.

Good for Keaton

It seems his career is on an upward trajectory. The tale of how Ray Kroc ultimately screwed the McDonald brothers out of their own company should make for a compelling drama.

I have the movie title: THERE WILL BE E COLI.

Not sure why...

I'm genuinely happy for this guy. His career is hot again after the fantastic Birdman. He just seems like a cool dude who didn't change or try to hide his......eccentric demeanor. He wasn't an ass about it, like say Prince, but, everyone has to admit Keaton seems like a weird but cool dude.

He'll always be my Batman.

Don't really care who plays the brothers, as long as Keaton is in

These are the types of roles I want to see him take on and stop being in dreck like Need For Speed and RoboCop (although he was the brightest spot in both).

Hope he signs on. Could be an interesting role for him. Especially if the film is a hybrid between Social Network and There Will Be Blood.

Glad to see him getting more roles because of Birdman. The guy deserves it.
