Might Warner Brothers have already registered a name for the next solo Batman movie?

With Christopher Nolan's take on Batman having come to its conclusion this past July and talks about a Justice League movie ramping up in advance of a rumored 2015 release date, speculation has been running relatively constantly about where Warner Brothers might take the Caped Crusader on his first solo adventure post-LEAGUE.

That question may have some sort of answer, one possibly revealed in a series of recently-registered domain names that directly pertain to the world of Batman. While some of these were no doubt registered merely for the sake of domain security, and while the constant inclusion of the word "Arkham" seems to hint that these may be related purely to the two video games released to roaring acclaim by developer Rocksteady, it certainly seems possible that Batman's first solo adventure might want to cash in on the popularity of the video game brand. With a pre-established audience in the younger crowd and a whole lot of critical praise already secured, tying in with the general name/universe established in the games might not be a bad way to go. Maybe not as a strict adaptation, but fitting in around their events...

Possible? Not possible? Desireable? Undesireable? You decide. So check out the domain names below, and make sure to strike back below that with any and all thoughts you might have!

Extra Tidbit: If nothing else, this is exciting news for fans of the game franchise as "Batman: Arkham City" released in October of 2011 and news of a new game to follow it up would be most welcome indeed. Because that game was just about the pinnacle of what the superhero genre is capable of when translated to the video game format, and eminently replayable besides.

The news Ive heard of a third game is hugely disappointing. After all the setups in City, theyre making the next game a prequel, taking inspiration from the Silver Age, and will feature the Justice League. Which is the last thing I need in a Batman game

Arkham?

i have no problem with Arkham, its a great franchise and the possibilties for a movie would be endless and enjoyable. But if Warner Brothers wants to set up a film franchise to go along with The Justice League, they might want to go with a more traditional Batman. Something sophisticated and smart, but not as gritty or based in reality as the Nolan films or the Arkham games. I would suggest turning the Arkham games into a trilogy for the animated market. DC may have a spotted record when it

DC may have a spotted record when it comes to theatrical films, but the direct-to-dvd movies have all be superb. This is perfect for the dark and violent nature of the games. And the games have a very set demographic, the same demographic that eat up these DVDs.

So animation for Arkham, more traditional for film

please tell me--

--that they are actually paying attention to how well received the Arkham games are, as to the treatment of how Batman should be in live action. If you studio guys want the next Batman to blow the doors off your bank account, tell them to use the Arkham game as a solid template for the next series. Stop running off the steam left over from Tim Burtons original-- the Arkham Batman is more appropriate for today...the Arkham Batman will fit in with the new Man of Steel franchise...fans LOVE it and

Go another route and make less money if you feel like you have to--but if you want to make bank and also give the fans what they want...well, consider yourselves advised:)

Batman Arkham Universe?

Sounds like the next Batman game is going to be a sandbox title with multiplayer, possibly?

This is obviously related to the next game, not movie. Which is fine by me since the Arkham City/Asylum games did more for the Batman universe than the Nolan films ever did.

Hell yes..!! This could rock... steady...

But please, no more "origin" story... just hints at Batman's origin is fine.

Come on people. It's obvious that this is for the third game in the Arkham series and not a movie adaptation.
Arkham Asylum
Arkham City
Arkham Universe

I just hope they bring back Joker, and Mark Hamill as the voice.

What happened to The Batman?

While it's almost a given that the next Batman film will draw influence from the acclaimed videogame series in some way, I doubt these names have anything to do with the movie. They look more like titles hinting at the next game and a possible open-world online multiplayer mode (Universe). Some names indicate that it could be a prequel game (Begins). Plus, didn't we already get news that the next film will simply be titled "The Batman"?

If WB decides to use the Arkham games for some kind of source that would be great. The contrast between that franchises creepiness and claustrophobia against Nolan's epic tone would/could/should make them stand out from each other.

That said, I'm not convinced. These could be for the next Arkham games and considering how much money there is in getting to a particular web domain before a big corporation does, it is probably smart to buy up a few now than try to fight for them later.

A cool option would be to do standalone Batman movies specifically based on graphic novels or major story arcs from the comics. Different directors giving their spin on the character, just as different comic writers and artists depict Batman their own way. An Arkham Asylum movie would be cool, and yes the games have increased the profile for what was already a popular comicbook, but there's a bunch of great storylines one could adapt as a movie, and Arkham Asylum might not be the best starting

It's a tough call between another bunch of origin stories, which I sense people are getting sick of with superhero movies, and jumping in at the deep end with a bunch of character relationships that haven't been previously established on film.

More likely just the next version of the game series, but always fun to speculate.
