The Deadpool movie coming in 2016! Assassin’s Creed and Fantastic 4 pushed!

After the test footage of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool leaked back in July, it looks like 20th Century Fox have pulled their heads out of their asses and seen the light. DEADPOOL is now officially coming to a theater near you on February 12, 2016, just in time for Valentine's Day!

Tim Miller will direct DEADPOOL and Reynolds will play the character he has long had the passion to portray. No word on whether the film will mock Deadpool's appearance in X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, but I wouldn't put it past them. Hopefully that test footage is a mere taste for what we will have in store for us.

Other changes to the release calendar involve the Michael Fassbender produced ASSASSIN'S CREED being completely taken off of the 2015 calendar with no new date announced. One would assume this is simply due to Fassbender's commitments to X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, but a push like that does not bode well for the finished product. Also, Josh Trank's THE FANTASTIC FOUR has been bumped two months from June 19, 2015 to August 7th. That August weekend worked well for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, so I wouldn't worry too much. Still, is moving it from the prime July 4th timeframe a bad omen?

Whatever the news, I am very excited that DEADPOOL is finally becoming a reality. Let's just hope it will be the R-rated take on the character we have all been waiting for!
