New Mortal Kombat: Legacy clip is curiously absent of anything resembling Mortal Kombat

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Seems like it was only yesterday when we first heard that MORTAL KOMBAT: LEGACY, a new iteration of the popular fighting game from MORTAL KOMBAT: REBIRTH director Kevin Tancharoen, would be getting made into a 10-part live action web series. Yet, here we are with the premiere just around the corner, and now our first peek at a brand new clip from the re-imagined adaptation. Toasty!

But alas, while the emphasis on this project is for a more “realistic” take on the Mortal Kombat material, it’s a bit odd to see that this particular clip was the one chosen to promote the series, as it showcases literally nothing Mortal Kombat-ish. Instead, we’re shown a generic fight sequence between Jax and Kano that looks like it could’ve come from a myriad of DTV action films. C’mon, guys, what gives?

MORTAL KOMBAT: LEGACY – starring Michael Jai White, Jeri Ryan, and Darren Shahlavi – premieres online at Machinima.com on April 12th.
