New Shrek Forever After trailer hits the web, makes one long for liquor

Why, why, why do these trailers always insist on using such terrible music? The songs might be fine on their own, but I'm talking about in the context of movie trailers. I mean, I know this is being being geared towards kids and families, but... f*ck, they're human too! Let's appeal to their emotions. Granted something like SHREK goes way beyond just needing better music (and mind you, I actually quite enjoyed the first one), but I think you get what I mean. FOOL ME into becoming interested! Isn't that what good marketing is all about?

Anyway, I have a bug up my ass at the moment, so I'll stop. Below you'll find the first full trailer for SHREK FOREVER AFTER. And again, the best thing I can see is Antonio Banderas, but even he can't charm his way out of a terribly written scene. Ack, there I go again. Go on and check it out for yourself before I'm driven to drink this whole bottle of delicious Jack Daniel's that's sitting in front of me. HD is available RIGHT HERE.

SHREK FOREVER AFTER completes the saga (thank goodness) on May 21st.

Synopsis: After challenging an evil dragon, rescuing a beautiful princess and saving your in-laws' kingdom, what's an ogre to do? Well, if you're Shrek, you suddenly wind up a domesticated family man. Instead of scaring villagers away like he used to, a reluctant Shrek now agrees to autograph pitch forks. What's happened to this ogre's roar? Longing for the days when he felt like a "real ogre," Shrek is duped into signing a pact with the smooth-talking dealmaker, Rumpelstiltskin. Shrek suddenly finds himself in a twisted, alternate version of Far Far Away, where ogres are hunted, Rumpelstiltskin is king and Shrek and Fiona have never met. Now, it's up to Shrek to undo all he's done in the hopes of saving his friends, restoring his world and reclaiming his one True Love.

Won't be making a 4th trip.
They should've left it after the second one. They perfected their formula on that one, and it's probably the only one I can watch from beginning to end and can still enjoy. The first really becomes annoying in the second half and I don't really remember much about the third, except that it was definitely something I'd never waste time on again.

I like 1 & 2, but 3 was atrocious. This looks slightly better, but I don't have high hopes for it.

The first one is a classic.. and then they got greedy. The second one was ridiculous, the third one was even worse and this looks fucking horrible. Lets put Shrek in an alternate universe because we ran out of ideas.. the kids will EAT IT UP!!

Bowling for Soup!
I'm gonna go ahead and be the guy that says he liked the music. The song in the first half was "No Hablo Ingles" by Bowling for Soup, one of my most favorite bands. I caught some shit for this with the 30 Seconds to Mars song in the Legend of the Guardians trailer last week too but fuck it, i dont care. I like what i like.

But as for the actual movie (the reason we're all here), i do...

They really took this franchise in the wrong direction. The first one worked so well cause it was an action adventure story and still funny. They needed to have Shrek going on more adventures instead of this slap stick Scary Movie type comedy, it's getting so old.

Don't make me laugh. It's only "the final chapter" until the receipts return from opening weekend. Then several more will be put on the fast-track. They need to let Shrek die already. You can only recycle jokes so many ti-- wait, no you can't. You should only use them once.

You can still watch it in 2D. I like Pixar films and am not particularly interested in 3D, but I didn't let that detract from my interest in Up, despite being presented in "Disney Digital 3D". I just saw the movie in 2D. Same for Toy Story 3.

Just because it will be released in 3D doesn't mean you have to see it in that format.

eh...
this sounds like a desperate storyline, stars snagging an easy paycheck, and nothing fresh to offer. it basically sounds like the 3rd santa clause movie. i hope i'm wrong because i thought all the shrek's were quite entertaining.
